You are required to assume the role of a safety or process engineer involved in the design phase of an industrial plant that handles hazardous substances or processes.

Facility Selection

Select one (1) industrial facility from the following list:

Report Content and Structure

Your report must be written in a clear, logical, and professional manner and should include the following sections:

  1. Introduction
    Provide a brief overview of the selected facility, its main processes, and the importance of considering process safety during the design and engineering stage.

Task 2: Video Presentation

Assume you are a safety or process engineer presenting to senior management during a design review meeting. Your aim is to convince management to support and invest in inherent safety-based design choices for the industrial facility selected in Task 1.

Based on the hazards and inherent safety solutions discussed in your report (Task 1), prepare and record a short video pitching session. In the video, you must clearly explain why applying inherent safety principles at the design stage is necessary and how it benefits the organisation.

Video Content Requirements

Your pitching session must cover the following points:

  1. Introduction
    Briefly introduce your role, the type of facility, and the purpose of the pitching session.
  2. Key Process Safety Issue
    Highlight one (1) major process safety hazard from Task 1 that presents significant risk if not addressed during plant design.
  3. Proposed Inherent Safety Solution
    Explain the inherent safety principle applied to address the selected hazard (such as minimisation, substitution, moderation, or simplification). Describe the proposed design or engineering change in clear, non-technical terms suitable for management.

Anda dikehendaki berperanan sebagai jurutera keselamatan atau jurutera proses yang membuat pembentangan kepada pihak pengurusan kanan semasa sesi semakan reka bentuk. Matlamat utama pembentangan ini ialah untuk meyakinkan pihak pengurusan agar memberi kelulusan dan sokongan terhadap keputusan reka bentuk yang berasaskan prinsip keselamatan intrinsik bagi fasiliti industri yang dipilih dalam Tugasan 1.

Berdasarkan bahaya keselamatan proses dan cadangan penyelesaian keselamatan intrinsik yang telah dibincangkan dalam Tugasan 1, anda perlu menyediakan dan merakam satu sesi pembentangan video berbentuk pitching. Dalam pembentangan ini, anda mesti menjelaskan kepentingan penerapan prinsip keselamatan intrinsik pada peringkat reka bentuk serta manfaatnya kepada organisasi dari sudut keselamatan dan pengurusan risiko jangka panjang.
