Individual Assignment:

Mini Marketing Research & Strategy Project (10%) Course Learning Outcome (CLO): Conduct marketing concepts in products or services that practice research and strategizing (PLO3, LOD5, P4).

Assignment Overview

Each student will select one real or potential product/service and act as a junior marketing strategist. You will conduct basic marketing research, identify your target market, and design a simple marketing strategy (product, price, place, promotion). This assignment focuses on applying learned marketing concepts confidently and creatively in a hands-on way.

Step 1: Product/Service Selection (10%)

  • Choose one product or service — it can be your own idea or an existing one from your community or campus.
  • Describe what it is, its purpose, and what problem it solves.

Example: A homemade eco tote bag, student meal plan, mobile app, etc.

Step 2: Conduct Simple Market Research (20%)

  • Identify your target customers (age, gender, lifestyle, location, income level).
  • Use at least 5 short survey/interview responses from potential customers to support your findings.
  • Summarize key insights:
  • What do customers need or want?
  • What motivates their purchase?
  • What problems or gaps exist in the current market?

You may use Google Form, paper survey, or short interview with peers.

Step 3: Develop Your Marketing Strategy (40%)

Using the 4Ps of Marketing Mix, propose a practical plan for your product/service:

  1. Product: Describe the features, brand name, and value.
  2. Price: Suggest a suitable price and justify it.
  3. Place: Explain how/where it will be available.
  4. Promotion: Suggest one low-cost promotional activity.

Include one hands-on element: You must create a small prototype or visual (e.g., product mock-up, packaging sketch, or short promotion poster).

Step 4: Reflection & Conclusion (10%)

Reflect in one short paragraph:

  • What did you learn about applying marketing strategies to real products/services?
  • What would you improve if given more resources?

Format & Submission (20%)

  • Report length: 3–4 pages (excluding appendices)
  • Include visuals, photos, or screenshots of your prototype/promotion.
