ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Part I (40%)

PURPOSE

This assignment aims to develop the learners’ ability to write a problem statement based on facts and figures on a specific research topic.  Based on the research topic and problem statement, learners will learn to formulate the research questions and objectives.

REQUIREMENT

The first stage of research is to identify problems or issues in business and management (or within the learners’ field of study) and to justify the need for research. To this end, you are required to choose a research topic that aligns with your interests and field of study. Based on this topic, you must formulate a problem statement supported by relevant high-impact journal articles and statistics to demonstrate its significance and the need for further investigation.

You are also required to develop appropriate research questions and objectives that correspond to the identified problem. Finally, you must justify the importance and relevance of conducting the research. Your report must be structured using the following components:

  1. Title of the Study
  2. Introduction
  3. Background of Study
  4. Problem Statement
  5. Research Question(s)
  6. Research Objectives
  7. Significance of the Research

Part II (10%)

ONLINE CLASS PARTICIPATION 

Discuss the following topic(s) in the forum and submit proof of your participation in the online discussions:

  1. Compare quantitative and qualitative research in terms of their philosophical assumptions, data collection methods, and expected outcomes. Discuss which approach is more suitable for investigating human behaviour in your field of interest, and justify your choice with clear reasoning.
  2. Describe how a quantitative researcher ensures reliability in a study. In your explanation, discuss at least two types of reliability and explain why reliability is essential for producing accurate and consistent research findings. Provide one example from your area of interest to illustrate how reliability can be established in practice.

KEPERLUAN

Tahap pertama dalam penyelidikan ialah mengenal pasti masalah-masalah atau isu-isu dalam bidang perniagaan dan pengurusan (atau dalam bidang pengajian pelajar), serta memberikan justifikasi terhadap keperluan menjalankan kajian. Sehubungan itu, anda dikehendaki memilih satu topik penyelidikan yang selari dengan minat dan bidang pengajian anda. Berdasarkan topik tersebut, anda perlu merumuskan pernyataan masalah yang disokong oleh artikel-artikel jurnal berimpak tinggi dan statistic yang relevan bagi menunjukkan kepentingannya serta keperluan untuk penyelidikan lanjut.

Anda juga dikehendaki membangunkan soalan-soalan penyelidikan dan objektif-objektif penyelidikan yang sesuai dengan masalah yang telah dikenal pasti. Akhir sekali, anda perlu menjelaskan kepentingan dan perkaitan kajian tersebut dijalankan. Laporan anda hendaklah disusun dengan menggunakan komponen-komponen berikut:
