Length: 10 slides, 10 minutes presentation Course learning outcomes:

  • Solve a specific research question using a well-designed, appropriate, coherent, and feasible research study with due consideration of research ethics. (P7, PLO3) (A5, PLO11)
  • Design a range of different research approaches and methods used to address business- and management-related problems. (C5, PLO2) (C5, PLO6)

B. Instructions  

Objective: This summative assessment evaluates the oral presentation of the final research project, including how well the student can communicate their findings, justify their research design, and engage with the audience through a defence of their work.

Presentation requirements:

  • Duration: 10 minutes presentation
  • The student must present justification of methodology used in the research, including data collection and analysis techniques and relation to the research questions/objectives.
  • The presentation should be clear, well-organized, and engaging, with appropriate use of visual aids (slides, charts, etc.).
  • Clarity of speech, confidence, and engagement with the audience will also be evaluated. 

Submission Guidelines:

  • Video duration limit: 10 minutes
  • Use APA style for referencing and formatting (for the slides, if needed).
  • Submit your document in Word or PDF format and presentation video embedded in the Word or PDF document via the learning platform.

C.   Submission guidelines

  • Formatting: The assignment must be submitted as a Word Document or PDF format. The settings of the Word document include: A4 portrait size paper with 1 inch page margins in Times New Roman 12 with 1.5 line spacing in justified format.
  • Cover page: Students must attach an assignment cover page with their name, student ID, subject code and title, and the deadline for the assignment.
  • Referencing style: Use APA 7th referencing style. No footnotes. Try to present your tables and figures (together with labels and references) in the actual report for easy reading, not in the appendices.
  • Before submitting your assessment on Moodle, ensure that your Turnitin similarity index is no more than 20%. A higher score will be flagged for plagiarism. If it is higher than 20%, you may delete your submission (before the due date) and resubmit another copy of your assessment.

accurately summarizing key data scope, methodology, and research contributions. There is a clear and in-depth connection to the research question.

may lack focus on key findings or leave out some important details. The connection to the research question may be weak or unclear.

inaccurate, or completely off- topic. There is no clear connection to the research question.

Delivery and engagement

[20 marks]

The presenter speaks with confidence, maintains eye contact, and engages the audience throughout the presentation. The tone is clear and energetic, holding attention. The delivery is clear and confident but may lack engagement or energy in some parts of the presentation. Eye contact is inconsistent. The delivery is adequate, but the speaker may struggle with confidence or engagement. Some areas of the presentation may feel rushed or unclear. The delivery is uncertain or lacks energy, resulting in low audience engagement. Eye contact is minimal, and the speaker may read from notes excessively. The delivery is poor. The speaker lacks confidence and struggles to engage with the audience. There is no eye contact, and the speaker appears to be reading directly from notes or slides.
Visual aids and use of technology

Visual aids (slides, charts, etc.) are exceptionally welldesigned, relevant, and enhance the clarity of the presentation. They are integrated seamlessly into the speech. Visual aids are welldesigned and relevant but may not be fully integrated into the presentation. Some slides may be too text-heavy or not as  visually engaging. Visual aids are adequate but may not be used effectively to support the content. There may be too much text or poorly designed slides. Visual aids are underused or poorly designed, making them more of a distraction than a help. Slides may be too cluttered or poorly formatted. No visual aids are used, or the aids are completely irrelevant or poorly designed.

The presentation is perfectly timed (10 minutes), covering all relevant points with no rush or significant overrun. The presentation is well-timed but may be slightly rushed at the end or linger on one section too long. The presentation is a little too short or long, affecting the overall clarity and pacing.
