Green Sustainability Project Proposal – Community Service Course
| Course | Community Service (Malaysian university course) |
| Assessment | Group proposal (15%), groups of 10 |
| Length | Maximum 20 pages (excluding cover, references and appendices) |
| Referencing | APA, minimum five credible sources |
In this community service proposal, your group explains green sustainability, reviews two existing initiatives, and identifies one campus or community problem, such as single-use plastics or food waste, backed by your own small survey, interviews or observation. You then plan an awareness activity with objectives, audience, timeline, roles and a way to measure its impact.
Proposal (15%)
CLO1: Rewrite a proposal of a community service project which has social impact (C2, PLO11).
In groups of 10, students are required to prepare a Green Sustainability Project Proposal focusing on an environmental or sustainability issue relevant to the campus or community.
- Begin with a brief explanation of green sustainability, including its meaning, importance and relevance to the community.
- Research and discuss two existing green sustainability initiatives that you find interesting, explaining what each initiative does and what can be learned from it.
- Identify one green sustainability problem to address. The problem statement must be supported by a small-scale preliminary investigation (observation, a short survey, interviews, photographs or other relevant data) that shows why the problem requires attention, rather than relying only on assumptions.
- Propose a small-scale awareness activity to address the issue, e.g. a social media campaign, infographic, short video, exhibition, awareness booth, poster campaign or educational activity.
- Explain the project objectives, target audience, proposed activity, implementation plan, timeline, team responsibilities, expected outcomes and method for measuring the impact of the activity.
The written proposal must be no more than 20 pages, excluding the cover page, references and appendices. Use a minimum of five credible references, with in-text citations and references in APA format.

Groups often lose marks because the problem statement rests on assumptions. The brief wants evidence from your own preliminary investigation, such as a short survey of students’ single-use plastic habits or photos of bin contamination, and an awareness activity whose impact you can actually measure (pre/post survey, sign-ups, waste audit). Our proposal and report writing help can review your outline and APA references, or you can submit your community service proposal for guidance. See also the MPU3412 Community Service assignment.
